Sorel-Tracy is unique due to a research and technology transfer centre (with a strong orientation towards eco-industrial applications), a technocentre in industrial ecology, and a BRIQ grant program (Bourse des résidus industriels du Québec):



  • The Technocentre en écologie industrielle is an ÉCOCARREFOUR, a transfer centre that brings together first-rate partners and guides businesses and communities in their initiatives at the strategic and operational level so as to improve their performance with regard to sustainable development.


  • BRIQ has the objective of promoting product development related to recovery of industrial waste. By basing itself on the principle that what is waste for one can become a primary resource for others, BRIQ provides a data base service for businesses that hopes to improve their management of residual materials. This enables them to establish exchanges that lead to diverting significant amounts of residual material away from landfills. A fine example of a concrete application of industrial ecology!
