Agri-Food


There are currently 375 farms spread out over 36,000 farming hectares. Of these farms, 25% are involved in milk production, 30% in cereal and protein-crop production, 10% in beef cattle production, 11% in pig production, 16% in truck farming, and 8% in specialty crop and specialty product production. In total, about 86% of the territory is protected for agricultural purposes. The agricultural sector is undeniably a vibrant part of the region's economy, representing some 1,260 jobs in the region and generating $124 million in revenues.

The emerging agri-tourism sector is increasingly present, with specialized production in the areas of wild berries, fine herbs, endives, asparagus, maple sugar products, honey products and beekeeping, lamb, hand-made cheeses, and country fine dining.
